Gerald Sturgeon, MD, FAAPDr. Sturgeon is a native of Louisville, KY.  He attended the old Flaget High School, and graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy (BA, Pharmacy) and University of Kentucky College of Medicine (MD). He completed his internship at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital in Louisville, KY and his pediatric residency at Louisville Children’s Hospital (now known as Kosair Children’s Hospital).  After serving 2 years as an Army Pediatrician on active duty at Fort Knox, KY during the Vietnam War era, he finished as a Major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps.  He then entered private practice in Pediatrics in Louisville, KY, where he continues to practice.He and his wife Patricia have been married since 1961.  They have 6 children (5 boys and 1 girl), and 7 grandchildren (5 girls and 2 boys).

Dr. Sturgeon is a member of the Greater Louisville Medical Society, the Kentucky Pediatric Society, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Kentucky Medical Association. He has served as the past president of Kosair Children’s Hospital and past president of the Kentucky Pediatric Society.

In addition to practicing pediatrics, his hobbies include reading (both historical novels and  fiction,) and exercise, which in the past was running, but is now mainly walking on the treadmill or bicycling.

Joseph Meiners, MD, FAAP

Dr. Meiners is also a Louisville native. He attended St. Albert the Great grade school before graduating from Trinity High School in 1983. From there, he went to the University of Louisville and graduated in 1987 with a B.A. in biology before attending the University of Louisville School of Medicine and receiving his medical degree in 1992. His internship and residency were done at St Louis University Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital from 1992-1995.  Dr. Meiners received his Board Certification in Pediatrics in 1995 and was recertified in pediatrics in 2003. He has been a Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics since 1995. Additionally, he is a member of the Greater Louisville Medical Society, Kentucky Pediatric Society, American Academy of Pediatrics and the Kentucky Medical Association.

Dr. Meiners has four children--two sons and two daughters—and is expecting his first grandchild.  He is an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

When not in the office he enjoys fishing, running, biking and attending his family’s sporting events. He has a yellow lab named Daisy.  He maintains many beehives, and makes his own honey.

Stacey Roussell, MD, FAAP 

Dr. Roussell is a native of Louisville, Kentucky. She attended St. Francis School in Goshen through sixth grade and then graduated from Kentucky Country Day School in 1990. She spent a year as an exchange student in England before attending Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee where she received a B.S. in Political Science. After graduation, she worked in Washington, D.C. for a year, then returned to Louisville where she took pre-medical courses at the University of Louisville. During this time, she also performed medical research for a pediatric surgeon and has authored a number of papers written on that research.  Dr. Roussell graduated from the University of Louisville with an Medical Degree in 1998 and then completed her residency in Pediatrics at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville from 1998-2001.

Dr. Roussell  received her Board Certification in Pediatrics in 2004 and is currently a Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is also a member of the Greater Louisville Medical Society, the Kentucky Pediatric Society and the Kentucky Medical Association.

Her husband, Scott, is the Managing Director of the BBC Beer Company, of which they are also part-owners. She is the mother of three wonderful children, Christopher, Benjamin and Beatrice. The Roussell family attends Second Presbyterian Church.

When not in the office, she keeps very busy transporting her children to their various activities and trying to stay fit by bike riding and exercising whenever possible.  She loves to read, travel and eat great food and would love to eventually have enough time to finish needle pointing her childrens’ Christmas stockings.

Amy Garlove, MD, FAAP

Dr. Garlove is a Louisville native who attended Ballard High School.  She attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, where she received a BA in English and Psychology in 1993.  Upon graduating, Dr. Garlove went to work for the University of Louisville Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  During that time, she obtained a Masters of Education in Counseling Psychology, but she also found she really loved the practice of medicine.  Dr. Garlove attended medical school at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where she received her Medical Degree in 2003.

Dr. Garlove took a year away from her training to stay home with her daughter, Emory, who was born not long after she graduated from medical school.  When she returned to work, it was as a pediatric resident at Kosair Children’s Hospital, which she completed in 2007.  Her second child, Addison, was born during her residency.  She received her board certification from the American Board of Pediatrics in 2007.  She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics; a member of the Greater Louisville Medical Society, the Kentucky Pediatric Society and the Kentucky Medical Association.  She currently is a member of the board of directors of the Kosair Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Her interests include photography, reading, cooking and travel.  She lives with her husband, Lee; daughter, Emory; son, Addison;  a pug puppy named Julius and a stripey feline named Zane the Cat.
